Setting up rova travel eSIM on your iPhone is simpler than it seems! In this guide, we’ll walk you through the steps to install and activate the eSIM on your iPhone, plus share some handy tips to keep you connected wherever you go. Let’s get started!
Before You Begin
✅ Use an unlocked device that supports eSIM
✅ Ensure you have a stable Wi-Fi connection during activation
✅ Temporarily turn OFF all other eSIM data packs (if present)
✅ Update your device to the latest iOS version
✅ Have your QR code ready (from email or the rova app)
✅ Install the eSIM at least 24 hours before your trip via secure Wi-Fi
✅ Try alternative methods if one activation approach fails
Direct Installation via App (iOS 17.4+)
- Purchase an eSIM data pack (link to how to purchase data pack and tap "Install eSIM on this device"
- When redirected to iPhone settings, tap Allow on the activation prompt. It might take a few minutes to activate your eSIM.
- When Cellular Setup Complete appears, tap Done
- Name your new line (e.g., "rova, travel eSIM") and tap Continue
- Select your Default Line for messages and calls
- Choose Primary to keep using your number for iMessage and FaceTime
- Set the rova eSIM as your Cellular Data
- Your rova travel eSIM is now installed
